The Tithe Barn

I am nursing a slight hangover today, so I will keep this sort and sweet before I have a roast dinner and nap my day away.

A really cool and quirky place to go, if you happen to be in Wiltshire, is a place called the Tithe Barn in Bradford-on-Avon. It dates back to the 14th century (I don't really do history, but that is a looonnggg time!) and is now home to a few 'market stores' which sell anything from cards, to oak furniture. All of which is housed in the old barns that surround the Tithe Barn, featuring all the original ceilings and wood work. It's great to have a nose around and walk out with a few bags of quirky bits at the end.

Some small shops usually don't accept card, but all the little shops pretty much do, so you have no excuse to buy some bits and pieces.

With the canal running right behind it and a few local pubs about a 5 or 10 minute walk along from, you can spend an afternoon working up an appetite whilst spending some money!

If you are not from around Wiltshire, and want to know more, then visit the Bradford-on-Avon website here.

Keeping It Country

As much as I love the hustle and bustle of the nightlife around different cities, I have to have those nights where I chill with a few friends in front of the fire, with a glass of wine in hand. If you ever wander through the Wiltshire countryside, then I have found the perfect little spot for just that!

Found right in the centre of a little village called Bulkington, The Well is a traditional Wiltshire pub that screams community and village life. Originally called The Tipsy Toad, the owners Sam and Tim have really transformed the place and brought back a country pub to a small village.

And did I mention that the food is to die for!

If you fancy going for an evening, then chill by the log fire with a beer or wine in hand. It's relaxing, and I could have easily put my feet up on the sofa and had a nap. The locals are usually in there having a pint of local cider (said in a farmer accent!) and it brings a sense of community and warmth there. A group of friends are always welcome, so don't worry that you may be the youngest amongst the OAP's because it caters for everyone.

The food is, simply, fantastic. Pub grub with a mix of specials fill the menu, whilst each piece of meat is sourced locally and the desserts are home made. It is literally home from home. If you do fancy eating there, prices range from £8.95 for the traditional scampi and chips, to £19.50 for a 16oz T Bone steak, whilst they also offer a sunday lunch. Sod the diet and have the pork, you wont regret it.

If you are a Wiltshire Country Bumpkin looking for a new watering hole, or a drive-through visitor fancying a spot of lunch, then I really do suggest trying out here. It has become one of my regular pubs now and it is worth that extra bit of petrol to get to.

Check out their website here. Their food menus can be downloaded here.
