¡Adios Lanzarote!

The final day of our trip was a relaxing one, especially after all of the running and walking we did on Ironman day!

Instead, it was time to relax and top up our tans before getting our flight back to London this morning.

Celebrating in Style

Whenever there is a birthday, there is always a party. Whenever there is a party, there is always cake and alcohol.
Or if you are like me, you skip the cake and head straight for the alcohol!
This weekend called for just that, with Jason celebrating his 40th birthday at The Sanctum Hotel in Soho. Of course, we knew that everyone that is anyone was going to be there (Jason knows alot of people!), so we had the perfect opportunity to have a few drinks beforehand and get into the party spirit...

I wore jeans from Topman, Blazer from Zara (similar one here) and a plain white tee.

A tube ride of spontaneous dancing and singing later, and we found ourselves at The Sanctum. This has to be one of Soho's hidden gems that you have to go and experience for yourselves. From the decor, to the staff, everything was fantastic. Granted, the lift was out of order and we had to walk up five flights of stairs to the roof terrace, but even they were lined with signed photos of A-Listers who love the hotel too.
At the top we were greeted by a 40th birthday party fit for our friend, set in an intimate but stylish roof terrace! As we walked out we were greeted by the gymnasts from Spellbound, who were there performing their routines from Britains Got Talent.
Sod the gymnatics, have you seen those bodies!

Dragging our eyes away from those chiseled bodies, we made our way through and carried on with a night full of drinking and celebrating!

Of course, no birthday is complete without a birthday cake.
Wonder Woman style!

One of the biggest surprises of the evening came from Jason announcing that the lead singer from Living Joy would belt out a few of her hits for us to all get dancing to. For all of you who cant remember, all you need to do is sing this out loud...
'Here we lie all alone, am I dreaming?
Your heart's smooth, my soul is unbelieving.
Now you see the me and I'm a-feeling,
I'm a-feeling.

I feel your hands, your lips, the heat of your body.
Whisper you love me, you say you love me.
Please just love me down never leave me

I'm a dreameeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.'

We carried on partying into the early hours, until it was time to hit the road to Mcdonalds and onwards south of the river.

All in all, a fantastic birthday for a great person! Happy 40th Birthday Jason.
If you fancy going to The Sanctum Hotel for an event, visit their website where you can see more and make an enquiry. It really is a great venue and I would recommend it to all of you to stay, eat, or drink at when in the area!

Girls Aloud: Ten - The Hits Tour

As you know, I love going to concerts. If someone I love is playing a gig, I'm there.

So you can understand when Girls Aloud announced their reunion tour, Ten - The Hits Tour,  I was making sure I was one of the first to buy tickets to what could possibly be the final time they toured. It has been 10 years since they burst onto the scene, and since then have had every gay guy dancing away to hits like Biology, The Show, Something Kinda Ohh, and Love Machine.

On Saturday, I made my way back to the O2 arena with Vitor and Ben for a night of camp filled pop music. As part of the experience, we were fortunate enough to be invited to visit the Sky Backstage Bar beforehand and relax before the show. None of us are Sky customers, but if you happen to be then you can sign up to gain tickets if you are visiting the arena for a show. You are greeted with a red-carpet arrival and then offered a complimentary massage to help you break out your dance moves, followed by sitting back in the bar with food and wine.

As we drank up our final glasses of wine, we made our way through the bar and into the arena to grab a standing spot. This is the part I hate the most, as the waiting around can sometimes drag out longer than you want. Luckily, the support act was Amelia Lily which made the waiting game a little easier.

As the lights dropped and the arena started screaming, we knew it was time for the main show.  As the opening video came to a close, the music started to kick in and suddenly the 5 ladies appeared stood above their name.

Cue screaming and ecstatic gays for about 100 minutes!

One of the highlights of the night came from when the band emerged dressed similar to the Victoria Secret models. Strutting their stuff down the 'catwalk,' they looked uh-mazing and gorgeous. We all turned to each other and said the same words...

'I am now straight!'

I did scream out 'I Love You Nadine' at this point!

Although the highlight of the concert came mid way through, when the chords for 'Sexy, No No No,' started. The girls appeared on top of the Girls Aloud sign again, and this time flew out into the audience to land on the B-Stage.

It was absolutely amazing. To be thisclose to them was unbelievable.

As the show went on, all the old numbers were belted out, and Oh My God did they sing live. We all know Nadine is the best singer, but Nicola could belt it out just as well! From watching the whole arena jump up and down for 'Jump,' to singing along to Can't Speak French, Girls Aloud put on a show from start to finish! We kept taking pictures, screaming and singing along word for word!

Yes, we really are those kind of fans!

After wowing us with Something New (that number 2 hit that should have been number 1!), the girls thanks us, disappeared and left us waiting for the encore!

All I can say is... Hello Jessica Rabbit inspired outfits! Damn did they look amazing. Starting with I'll Stand By You, complete with a video montage from the last 10 years, and then finishing withthe Brit-Award single The Promise...

There were even red and white feathers as the confetti!

As they disappeared down below the stage, the lights came up and we took a few minutes to come to terms with how good that concert was. A lot of people beforehand had a little giggle about me going to see Girls Aloud, but I was so taken aback at how flawless the performance was. For 10 years after winning a reality TV show, they have showed us they have earned their place in pop-history! It was pure pop-perfection, and if this is their final tour as they are saying, then they went out on a level that other girl-bands cannot compete with.

Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola, Sarah and Kimberly, you absolutely rocked!

Friday

The L'Oreal Photoshoot

For me, good hair is an absolute must on anyone... It is such an important part of someones image and it is on my miniature check list when I go on a date with a guy! You all know what I mean, that little list which probably contains good shoes, nice teeth, and all those other little things that we check within a nanosecond of greeting them.

Fortunately, Gareth is one of my closest friends and a fantastic hairdresser. He is part of the Headmasters team at their flagship salon in Mayfair, and happens to be the go-to person for the celebs and fashionistas, done so many photo shoots for magazines and featured in them too, and knows hair better than anyone else. He is always tweeting away, so you should definitely follow him.

With my hair growing at a rapid rate, I am always wandering in to see if I can grab an appointment with him and a gossip.

With an photoshoot coming up, Gareth asked me to be his model for an upcoming Headmasters and L'Oreal shoot, and lend my fast-growing locks to his creative hands. I have done a few shoots in the past for other people, and of course jumped at the chance! So a couple of Sundays ago, with the snow falling down in a blizzard like style, I found myself on an industrial estate in Esher...

It was freezing.

With a hot cup of tea in hand, the hairdryers on the highest temperature and multiple layers on, the team started to work away on their models to create their looks...

I absolutely loved the way Gareth styled my hair, and have been doing it that way since! All of the products that were used were L'Oreal, and the styling was by Aaron (follow him here), who happens to also be a hairdresser and stylist too.

Once hair and make-up was done, we all started to take center stage for our shots...

The photographer, Lefteris, is fantastic and I have seen some of his work before, so I was beyond excited to see how the photos would turn out!

Finally, it came round to my moment in front of the lens.

Like Miss Moss says... "When you're shooting... You think about how you should stand in these particular clothes, or how you should move. You think about the different characters you're playing, really."

Quick touch up, and a ruffle of the jacket...

You have to excuse the quality of the pics, my iPhone camera wasn't up to the standard of the one Lefteris was using!

With a few more flashes, and revisiting angles I had done earlier on, we were done. We had got the shots and everyone was pretty excited with them. I managed to sneak a peak and was really happy with how they turned out .

All I had to do now was adopt that jacket I was wearing. I adored it and it fitted me so, so well. It was a perfect match.

I failed miserably.

For the moment, I can't share the pictures just yet. They will be released soon and I can post them for you all to see. Until then, if you are looking for a change of salon or fancy something new, then go over to Headmasters and speak to the guys and girls there. You can always call them on 0345 459 7719 to book an appointment, or check out their website.
